True luxury on the stunning island of Koh Samui is just what you need on your tropical getaway to Thailand! Raku is a four-bedroom paradise that has been designed by a renowned architect, perched atop a hill facing the sea and the vegetation in Angthong Marine Park, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao. While your personal space is respected by the kind and friendly staff, they are always present to assist you if needed. The magnificence of the infinity-edge swimming pool is definitely the high-point as you can leisurely lounge in the refreshing water while gazing out at sea!
The master bedroom at Raku is a sight to behold with its fabric and wood veneer walls, remarkable view of the sea, brass and glass desk, and luxurious bedding. The air-conditioned room is furnished with a king-sized bed too accompanied by an ottoman. With floor-to-ceiling glass doors that slide open to the swimming pool, you can be rest assured that you time at the villa will be a mesmerizing experience. The en-suite bathroom is down the staircase and features an entire glass wall with a spectacular view of the sea and a walk-in double shower.
Two of the three air-conditioned guest bedrooms are furnished with king-sized beds and similarly designed as the master suite, in fact, you can say the villa has three master bedrooms! The final bedroom has bunk beds and comfy bean bag chairs, suitable for children and each bedroom is situated around the pool. The bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms fitted with gold-plated faucets and marble walls.
Watching the sunset is an essential rite of passage on a summer holiday, which is exactly what you can get while at Raku. The remarkable 16-metre infinity pool sits in an L-shape overlooking the sea and the lush greenery before it. It is here that you can experience something otherworldly as you reminisce and introspect to the gorgeous panorama in front of you. Aesthetically pleasing, the outdoors has been designed for lounging, relaxing, and a lavish treatment at the hands of the employees of the villa. There are sun beds on the pool deck, and a sunken sitting area designed with the best materials, to afford luxury and comfort.
As beautiful as the villa looks in the daytime, once the sun sets and you wish to move indoors to a more private setting, the uniquely-designed and well-curated living area is the personal haven you would have always wished for. The well-lit living area is poolside for easy and direct movement in and around it. With a high-slanted ceiling, and an open-concept structure, the living area banks on natural lighting and ventilation through Samui’s fresh air. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls and doors create an open and comfy ambiance for guests to feel at home and rest.
Raw silk curtains and a silk, hand-knotted carpet and similar additions complete this luxurious space which has a comfortable sitting area and a curved UDH TV for entertainment. With overhead designer lighting, the dining area is furnished with an eight-seater dining table with a sleek, and elegant, polished brass design. The kitchen is modern and fully-equipped for use by guests.
There are five staff members at the villa including the villa manager, housekeeper, maid, gardener, and pool maintenance. They are very helpful, kind, and happy to assist and welcome you to the villa. Your stay will definitely be one where you will be amazed at their hospitality!
If you are up for a hike, walk down to the Bang Por beach, which is a serene and calming area where you can enjoy and relish the beauty of untamed nature. More for fitness lovers, a fully-equipped gym and a Muay Thai training center is only minutes away from the villa. If you want to eat out, try Four Seasons Hotel’s Koh restaurant and Coco Rum beach bar. Explore Bophut’s fisherman village to learn more about the culture and heritage of the place, and even get in some local shopping.
Having booked both Celadon and Raku for my daughters wedding we all had huge expectations about what might lie in store for us. To say both villas exceeded our expectations would be a massive understatement. Celadon, where my brother in law and his family stayed was an architectural marvel. You can see why it has been booked so many times in its six years being on the market. However I want this review to be about Raku.Stylish and brilliantly planned around the infinity pool with all four bedrooms having equal access to the amazing vista outside. The main dining and living room area was perfect with everyone congregating for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Annie would whip up anything you could think of and it wasn’t only the best Thai you’ve ever eaten but American fare like BLTs and omelettes to name a few. We asked a lot of the staff for the wedding including bbqs, buffets which they delivered seamlessly. Annie and Renu were exceptional. Bee couldn’t do enough. 5 Stars. We will return.
