Samudra Samui has been crafted with love and care by a well-travelled couple who have accumulated bits and pieces from China, Burma, Bali, India, and Thailand to be sewn into the very essence of this seven-bedroom holiday haven. A tropical paradise with the seashore right below flanked by granite boulders, Samudra hosts bedrooms built into the land with a rustic feel to them and natural materials abound. Distinct pavilions with a personality of their own house the living and dining areas, some are outdoors alongside the pool and overlooking the stunning ocean!
Samudra Samui is home to five, beautifully-crafted unique bedrooms that are each an experience with their stone walls, wooden interiors, shingled and/or vaulted ceilings, and access to the gardens or the pool deck. Antique Chinese cabinets and doors line the rooms that have been furnished with comfortable double beds. There is a ‘Garden Suite’, two ‘Octagon bedrooms’, and the two ‘Bali temple bedrooms’. Each of these has been designed with a special theme that translates into the walls, floors, furnishings, and views in and from the bedrooms.
While the waves crash along the granite boulders down below, guests of Samudra can luxuriously relax on the sun chairs found beside the villa’s infinity swimming pool. Designed with a Balinese stone surface, the pool bears a striking resemblance to the ocean it overlooks. There is an outdoor dining sala with a charming reclaimed wood dining table for up to 24 guests for a wonderful meal while immersed in nature. Frangipani trees and verdant gardens greet you upon arrival. There is a thatched terrace for relaxation in the open air amidst the tropical island breeze.
Each aspect of Samudra Samui is nothing short of exceptional as you will find while gazing at the antique Chinese doors and windows, Balinese reclaimed wood, and carved wooden walls indoors. An open-sided living area flanked by a wooden terrace is the ultimate place for relaxation with sprawling views across the ocean. Furnished with comfortable sofas, the living room exudes a warmth owing to its wooden interiors. The room is air-conditioned and fitted with a TV for modern comforts to keep you entertained.
Every bit of the villa including the handcrafted coffee table to the alfresco dining area out on the terrace is worth witnessing. You can choose dine anywhere you wish because no matter where you are, the ocean will always be in your line of vision. Guests have access to the fully-equipped kitchen and there is a chef on property, in case you want to try out local delights made by an expert!
It is not just about the Asian excellence, quality living, and prestigious quarters that Samudra Samui extends to its guest, it is the entire experience of residing in the lap of luxury with a staff to tend to your ever need that makes it extraordinary. From housekeeping to security, there are people to take care of things including a villa chef for prepping delicious and exceptional food.
The villa is a beachfront property, where you can climb down the rocks and head to the shores for a peaceful moment or two while gazing out at the ocean. Found in Laem Set beach, and 15-minutes from Lamai beach, it is an almost private beach experience with few people loitering in the region. The famous spa and retreat, Kamalaya Koh Samui is also a walk away!
10/10I took a bit of a punt with Samudra asking 11 friends and family to join my wife and I at an unknown location on Koh Samui for her birthday. No one except me knew where they were going and without exception everyone of us wished we could stay longer and would love to go back. Working from the big picture in, the location itself is stunning. You feel that you are in charge of all the land and sea that you can look out upon. The rambling gardens and pathways and stunning big slabs of flat smooth local stone that guide you between buildings and are also often displayed within the heart of same buildings are amazing. The sense of peace space and privacy in the whole environment I am sure make Samudra unique on Samui. The beds are comfortable, everything works and it is a wonderful place to stay. All of the above is great but what adds to the whole experience is Dolly and her amazing team. With a big birthday to organise as well as daily meals and excursions not one of my questions or requests was ever answered with a 'no' or even a 'not Sure'. The answer was always an enthusiastic yes and best of all always delivered upon. We all totally loved our time here and would love to go back. I would be happy to be contacted by anyone considering Samudra.
10/10I cannot think of the words to describe this piece of paradise. It is truly a special place that if you are lucky enough to experience it you will never forget it. 13 members of our crazy family descended on Samudra for a family reunion. We thought that it was a scam because it all looked to good to be true on the internet so we were very relieved when the minivan came to pick us up. when we arrived we could not believe our eyes and proceeded to say WOW several times a day for the duration of our stay. The staff treat you like royalty and food is too good to even think about going elsewhere to eat. I hope that one day I am lucky enough to go back.
10/10After our first visit to Samudra we thought it could not get any better. But sure enough it did on the second visit. The property sits facing a chain of islands. From sunrise to sunset the ocean reflects the clearest blue. The food is prepared fresh daily by one of the finest Thai Chefs. The gardens are colorful. Each of the suites offer a unique experience. It was better than excellent.
