Finding family-friendly restaurants which are suitable for adults and welcoming towards children is not always an easy task when visiting a tropical island like Koh Samui. So we’ve done some research and put together a comprehensive list of the best family-friendly restaurants in Chaweng.

1. Stacked Burger

Considered by some as the best burger joint on the Island, Stacked Burger makes their products from high quality ingredients. The main focus of this restaurant is American burgers and all their fixings (fries, onion rings, milkshakes, the whole lot). The main favourites of this establishment are the Cowboy and the Monalisa burgers. Like its namesake, the burgers here are stacked with various toppings, which makes for a filling meal. There is a kids’ menu, with a special section of free food for kids 8 years old and under, available with every purchase their adults make. Happy hours (for the adults) are between 5 pm to 7 pm. The price range is a little on the upper side, but it is proportionate to the food service that you’re getting.

2. The Hungry Wolf

The Hungry Wolf is well known in the area for its wide range of pizzas, delicious pastas and some of the best burgers in Chaweng. They bake their own buns, make their own marinades for meats and prepare all of their sauces from scratch. They also offer a great selection of vegetarian options including vegetarian pizzas, burgers and homemade soups. The Hungry Wolf is a casual dining experience and the kids will have no problem finding something on the menu that they are sure to love. They also offer a reliable home-delivery service for a very modest fee of only 60 THB.

3. Sala Thai Restaurant

4. Duomo Italian Restaurant

Duomo Italian Restaurant is one of the few places in Chaweng that you will most definitely need to make a booking for your family. Why? Because the place is well known for serving up some of the best Italian food in Koh Samui and it’s always packed! On the menu, you’ll find all of the Italian favourites that kids adore such as 4 cheese pizza, spaghetti bolognese and gelato ice-creams for dessert. 5. Gringos Cantina Mexican Restaurant

Gringos Cantina Mexican Restaurant has been around since 1998 and serves up a huge variety of traditional Tex-Mex dishes. The atmosphere here is always relaxed and fun, with the serving staff dressed up in full traditional Mexican attire. The menu is packed with an array of yummy and healthy Mexican dishes such as Nachos, Burritos, Enchiladas and Fajitas — all made from scratch using the freshest local ingredients. Specialising in Australian-style western food, Bondi Aussie Bar & Grill is a familiar environment for Aussie tourists and expats. Expect the place to be a lot more livelier on Australia Day and during the AFL season, as the venue will play the live matches on TV.

8. Tropical Murphys Irish Pub & Restaurant

Tropical Murphys Irish Pub & Restaurant is a great place to bring the entire family if you are looking for friendly service and a good home style cooked meal. They are very accommodating for families with young children and have high-chairs available on request. Here you can find all of your standard bistro type food that kids enjoy like hamburgers, pizza and apple pie with custard. And just like any good Irish pub and bistro, Tropical Murphys serves up very generous portions of food. They are also known for putting on one of the best Sunday Roast dinners in town — definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in Chaweng Beach over the weekend.

9. The Beach Club @ Buri Rasa

The Beach Club @ Buri Rasa is a delightful beachfront dining experience the whole family will enjoy. With the dining tables and private teepee’s set up on the sand just above the high-tide mark, you really couldn’t get any closer to the ocean if you tried! Here they specialize in serving up the freshest of locally caught seafood, all prepared over a charcoal grill by experienced Thai Chefs. Even though the ambiance is more of a romantic and quiet setting, children are always welcome here at Buri Rasa.

The Jungle Club Restaurant sits on top of a mountain just inland from Chaweng Beach and provides stunning scenery while you eat. Hard Rock Cafe in Chaweng serves up delicious American cuisine that all kids love including chicken wings, hamburgers, hot dogs and ice-cream sundaes. You can expect great service at the Hard Rock Cafe and the atmosphere is always relaxed, entertaining and fun — especially when the live bands are playing. 12. Siam Dreams

This restaurant is the sequel to its now-closed predecessor of the same name. Serving two different cuisines (German and Thai) of equally-great calibre, Siam Dreams is constantly frequented by German visitors, and also by non-German ones, who are craving both. German favourites are the different types of schnitzels and currywurst. On the Thai side of the menu, the best-sellers are the spring rolls and the Thai green curry. The freshly made food is supplemented by tasty cocktails and beer on tap. The restaurant becomes a homebase for Germans watching live Bundesliga matches on TV, owing to the super casual garden atmosphere. 13. Little Boat Seafood Restaurant

Little Boat Restaurant is a small establishment with a big reputation for serving up some of the freshest seafood in the Chaweng area. The staff at Little Boat are very welcoming towards children and are quite aware that seafood is not always the first option for want kids want to eat. That’s why they offer a dedicated kids menu full of yummy alternatives like pizza, pasta and BBQ chicken. 14. Cafe Uno

Cafe Uno is one of those restaurants that cover all bases when it comes to food on their menu. They offer a huge variety of dishes which include everything from ‘western style’ gourmet breakfasts to authentic and traditional Thai meals. The staff at Cafe Uno are known to be very attentive towards their guests and will even provide children with a selection of toys to play with while waiting for food to arrive at your table. 15. Baitong Restaurant

Located right on the beachfront at Chaweng beach is an iconic family-friendly venue called Baitong Restaurant. They are known for being extremely welcoming towards children and have a dedicated kids menu for them to choose from. They even offer half-price tickets to their weekly beach BBQ buffets which happen every Thursday night (425 THB for children under 12 yrs old). There are dining tables set up directly on the sand so kids can enjoy playing on the beach after eating. Baitong also has Thai cooking classes taught by experienced chefs during the day which the whole family can get involved with.
