Lamai. The second most popular beach, Lamai offers a good mix of relaxation and activities. Villas in Lamai range from budget studios to spacious pool villas nestled in the hills overlooking the beach. Prices are generally lower compared to other Samui beaches.
Lipa Noi and Mae Nam. These secluded beaches on Samui's west coast offer a peaceful getaway in luxurious privacy. Villas here are decorated with palm trees and have private infinity pools, plus direct access to quiet beaches. Expect to pay a premium for the serenity and seclusion.
Bo Phut and Choeng Mon. Bo Phut is home to Samui's upscale boutique resorts while Choeng Mon features a lovely 3-kilometer long beach. Villas in these areas tend to be more modern with larger living spaces, private gardens and offer gorgeous sunset views from the balcony.
Best Time to Travel to Samui
The great thing about Samui being in a tropical country is that it’s beautiful year-round and you can visit Samui whenever you want! If diving is a top priority, aim to visit in
July or August. The water tends to be clearest during these months, allowing you to spot coral and marine life with ease. This is the perfect time to visit Koh Tao or Koh Pha Ngan.
From
February through September, Samui enjoys a generally dry climate with little rainfall. This stretch makes up the island's peak season and is best for guaranteeing sunny days which you can spend in the beach.
The wettest period is from
October through December. Heavy downpours are common and some attractions may be closed. The beaches can disappear under the high tides too. Regrettably the stormwater sometimes washes garbage to the southeast areas, so it’s not a very pleasant sight to see.
January is the transition period of seasons, so conditions can vary unpredictably from day to day. Rain is still quite possible, so make sure you pack an umbrella if you intend to visit this month.
